Congratulations to our Post 16 students!
On Thursday 17th August, 2017, Year 13 A-Level and BTEC students collected their results and once again achieved some fantastic results. Overall outcomes surpassed the school’s targets and this is pleasing within the context of more challenging linear A levels; for the first time this summer a number of courses were examined on new content after two full years of study. 31% of overall full level 3 grades were awarded A*-A or equivalent, with 42% A*-B and 69% A*-C.
The vast majority of our Year 13 students progressed onto their first choice of University study or into an apprenticeship or workplace of their choice. Happy faces and a fair few tears were seen as just reward for the hard work of students and staff. We’re extremely proud of our Year 13 students and wish them well in their future destinations. Thanks must go to students, their families and their teachers for the work that has gone into the last two years of Post 16 study.
Examples of some excellent individual outcomes include: Michael Lillico A B B B has been accepted at York University to study Law, Caitlin Birdsey heads to Glasgow University to study Psychology with A B B C, Joshua Nichol Dis* A B C has been accepted at Northumbria University to study Primary Education, Luke Richardson achieved B B B B and will study Mechanical Engineering at Newcastle University and Ella Sutcliffe has been accepted at Northumbria University to study Primary Education with B B B B.
Maya Burns, Alysha Ferguson and Hannah Thompson all achieved Dis* Dis* Dis* and will study Primary Education at Sunderland University, Childhood and Early Years at Northumbria University, and Childhood Studies at Nottingham Trent respectively. Sam Costello leaves for America to take up a soccer scholarship in Ohio with Dis* Dis* Dis C.
A wonderful range of other University, apprenticeship or training and employment options will be taken up by our students. Good luck for the future Year 13, we will miss you!
