In January 2016 we moved into our new Advanced Learning Centre, a professionally designed study centre that contains a variety of specialist study facilities, including ICT provision and personal study areas.
The building also houses a social area for the exclusive use of Post-16 students, who also have access to a comprehensive school and careers library with high-quality resources that support the curriculum and the development of independent learning, as well as promoting reading for pleasure. Students benefit enormously from the expertise and guidance of a full-time librarian. In addition, all students have access to Newcastle University’s Robinson Library. Post-16 students are actively encouraged to use the libraries for both collaborative and quiet personal study. Using both libraries is essential for completion of their EPQ qualification to the highest standard.
Specific Post-16 kitchen facilities and refreshments to purchase are available for students throughout the day in the social area, which will soon house a TV showing News 24 during lesson time to allow students to keep up to date with current affairs. During lunchtimes students are able to listen to music or another channel of their choice.
We are extremely proud of these facilities; contact us at any time to look around.
