GCSE and BTEC Results Day – Well Done Year 11!
Congratulations to all Year 11 students who finally received their GCSE and BTEC results today. For many this was a day of much happiness and excitement and there were some excellent performances from a number of students and subjects. For example, Brian Gillespie who recorded a fantastic 10 A* and A grades and Matthew Crawford, Amy Jenkinson, Yuko Lee, Callum Randall, Justin Singh Gill and Amy Turnbull, who all achieved either 6 or 7 A* and A grades amongst their range of GCSE passes – superb efforts.
Principal Gary Douglas commented “I continue to be very proud of the efforts and successes of so many of our Year 11 students and I would like to congratulate them, their families and our staff for their achievements this summer. GCSE results are a milestone in the lives of our students and it is always exciting to be part of the range of personal successes that students achieve on a day like today”.
A careers advisor from Northumberland County Council was on hand to support students who weren’t quite sure of their next step, whilst the vast majority of students who have opted to continue studying at AHS have achieved the grades needed to continue onto their chosen courses. Enrolment for new Year 12 students takes place tomorrow, Friday 26th August, from 10.00am – 1.00pm in the Hub. Any students who need further support or advice are welcome to drop in also.
Our best wishes go to those Year 11 students who are leaving leaving us, and we wish them luck as they move onto the next step of their education, employment or training.
We look forward to another fantastic Y12 cohort returning in September!
