North East Book Award

On Tuesday 7th June our librarian, Trish Wood, accompanied six of our Year 7 girls to the Centre for Life, Newcastle, to attend the North East Book Award.  The authors were the funniest speakers Trish has ever ever heard at the event, which she has been involved in since it began back in 1999!  Our students read, reviewed and judged the shortlisted books, and all received a book token as a reward.

The students involved were Katie Hann, Georgia Leo, Jessica Armstrong, Aleisha McMillan, Lani Smith and Emma Jewitt – all a great credit to us, and their smart appearance was commented on!

One author dressed as a gorilla to talk about her book ‘Gorilla Dawn’, while another did magic tricks!  Aleisha was thrilled to have Jo Cotterill (the winning author) sign her copy of ‘Looking at the Stars’.
